Learn how to test the working atmosphere, using electronic test apparatus, to find out if it is safe for the proposed work

What you’ll learn in this course

The unit is suitable for use in the following situations:

  • Confined spaces / enclosed and partially enclosed spaces / hot work
  • Storage tanks, silos, pits, pipes, shafts, ducts, transport vehicles, and ships
  • Testing as part of issuing a work permit
  • Monitoring as part of working under a work permit / open area
  • Holding the gas tester by hand / lowering the gas tester into a space.

Entry Requirements

Basic literacy and numeracy skills are essential

Candidates must also:

  • Be physically able to work in confined spaces eg. no Claustrophobia
  • Be in good general health and fitness for practicals eg. ability to wear a harness and climb a ladder
  • Undertake manual handling tasks
  • Assessment

    A candidate cannot be deemed competent unless they are able to demonstrate competency in all assessments. Each candidate has a maximum of two additional opportunities to demonstrate competency without additional fees applying.
