CPCCLRG3001 - License to perform rigging basic level

Learn how to safely perform basic rigging work - moving, placing or securing loads using mechanical load shifting equipment. Riggers also erect and dismantle cranes and hoists.

What you’ll learn in this course

This unit specifies the skills and knowledge required to safely perform basic rigging work.

Riggers use mechanical load shifting equipment and associated gear to move, place or secure loads, including plant, equipment or members of a structure. Riggers ensure the stability of those members and set up and dismantle hoists.

Licence to perform rigging basic level consists of :

  • Structural steel erection and pre-cast concrete placement
  • Hoists
  • Safety nets and static lines
  • Mast climbing work platforms
  • Perimeter safety screens and shutters

Entry Requirements

Candidates must have a basic level of understanding with math and English. You will be required to pass a simple Language, Literacy and Numeracy test before commencing this course.

Candidates must also be physically able to:

  • Undertake manual handling tasks
  • Manoeuvre hand tools

Candidates must:

  • Be a minimum of 18 years of age
  • Pre-requisite UNIT: CPCCLDG3001 License to perform dogging or hold a valid HRWL License for dogging
  • Assessment

    A candidate cannot be deemed competent for the unit unless they are able to demonstrate satisfactory performance (to the required level) in all assessment tasks. Each candidate has a maximum of two additional opportunities to demonstrate competency without additional fees applying.

    Once a participant has demonstrated competency and passed this unit, they will be eligible to work as an entry level dogger across the construction and mining, oil & gas industries.
